S.I.D. – A Speculative History

SID Speculative history small
Artist: Ken Netzel

SID –  or to give him his full name, Space Intruder Detector – is the only offspring of Cray XV (mother), Hubble Telescope (father).

Sid’s parents met while working on Deep Space Red Shift Exploration in 1976. It was instant love and after a short, but intense relationship the couple coupled. Sid arrived some  20 months later (gestation for electronics is longer than for humans).

Sid was educated to PhD standard within a few weeks of attaining sentience and started working with S.H.A.D.O. in December 1978, after a successful interview. He has often said that his success was due to the support and encouragement he received from both Ed Straker and Craig Collins during this time.

His achievements include the  translation of the Complete Works of William Shakespeare and J.R.R.Tolkein into both Nahavo and Polynesian. His two major orchestral works, Symphony Number 1 ( Music of the Stars) and Symphony Number 582 (Faster Than the Speed of Light) have been performed by such renowned musicians as the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ulan Bator quartet.

Sid remains a staunch bachelor, despite frequent efforts by some Deep Space Probes and Space Observation Platforms to ensnare him!
