Identified: Drabbles

Identified Drabbles smallThe world turned into a merry-go-round, then he was thrown clear of the car and watched it burst into flames. Was that a bloody hand scrabbling uselessly against one of the window-panes? He rolled down the incline, a sharp pain in his wrist as the briefcase was yanked off the chain, and the coppery taste of blood in his mouth. Pain in his chest, the acrid smell of burning tyres and spilt gasoline, an insistent whirr and blood trickled from his lips, as he watched the proof crisp and blacken. Better look there, than at the Rolls.

2. Aquaboi

Gay Ellis leaned back in her chair, polite, but hard.
She had been through a lot these last few days.
Now the aliens were real. not just mysterious saucers.
Green faced human mutilators.
Just fine. How lovely.
Her twin sister’s absence forced the realization that she was torn apart for transplants.
Gay was also torn apart, in a different way, having to be twice as spectacular. Good looks weren’t enough since Flora disappeared.
Straker came to her posing as a movie maker, told her what probably happened. She had recruited easily.
Now the ufos were more than real to her

harvesting people.
the thought of it was ghastly.
Straker sat back at his desk after the others had left, and thought.
why Earth? why humans?
he mused on parasites and wondered if the galaxies were like oceans, and some kind of worm had attached itself to the human race.
maybe something more sinister.
a hatred of people, by ancient foes forgotten except in legends.
serpents versus mammals.
corruption of mankind, due to jealousy.
or, a race in real need, so desperate they don’t even think to ask.
perhaps, something man cannot understand.
something good, that is appearing evil.

4. Lightcudder

The coffin slid into the antechamber. The attendant was waiting. An easy job.
No lifting or effort. The furnace was ready, but he had one task to do first.
He prised the lid loose with a crowbar, heedless of gouges in the polished oak.
Perks of the job. Who would know. Gold fillings, rings. He `rescued’ them
all. He lifted the lid.

The coffin was empty. Apart from one object. A heart. Then a burly man with a
pock-marked face entered the room, his face murderous when he realised the
sacrilege.

Leila’s family always believed the ashes were hers.

another UFO down,
this time an alien, Sharia thought.
the sub was warm,
and her net suit snug and breathable.
her beach girl figure curved in all the right places, and the men on the sub commented with their eyes,
even if their mouths were tightly shut.
green men from Mars.
she sighed
all the stations were in operating order, so she could go make coffee with special additives from the sea,
to bring flavourful stimulants that also reduced anxiety, and was noted a favourite by Straker.

her father was beachcombing one night,
a UFO took him away forever.

6. Toria

The light went on and the curtain shut. The handful of visitors who had found
their way into the small village cinema, arose and left in silence. All except
for two middleaged women, who still sat on their places, smiling at each other.
“I didn’t watch UFO for years,” one said, “I had nearly forgotten how much I
adored Ed when I was young.”
“So do I,” the other answered. “But there is one thing which has always stuck in
my mind. Do you know, what? Ed’s incredible blue eyes.”
“And his beautiful American pronunciation,” the first added and smiled.
