Another Alien Attack

Another Alien Attack smallThe aliens took the  man out of his wheelchair and dragged him from his modest home. Back through the lawns and into the wooded grassy park nearby where they had landed. Since his maid wouldn’t be in until the morning time, the abduction was successful.

The poor crippled old man moaned and slobbered at the mouth, crying in vain against the cold hearted Frankensteins, who were dressed in red and chrome suits, gill slits like a Mako shark’s for audio input thru the jade colored liquid inside their rounded triangular like helmets. Ufonauts.

Although this man who once was a brilliant professor had warned about contact being disastrous from higher civilizations upon the lower tech world countries so many times in lectures, the thought of that was trite, even as he was being pulled along by his useless legs on the wet cold grass in the dark overcast night. The aliens picked him up with as much concern as a sack of potatoes and lifted him into the clear shell and on the foot pad of the UFO.

One of the red and silver aliens flipped a switch on an electronic panel inside the UFO, and a green lit pulsing node, like a bowl stuck on the wall, cut into the old man’s brain.

He screamed.

It was as if a knife of fire sliced through his skull, and scooped out his entire mind and placed it into a crystal, like so much glop from a Halloween Jack-o-lantern.
The rest of his organs came out similarly, but with sonic cutters that looked like mini flashlights in the hands of the green faced ghouls. They threw what was left of the old man out onto the park meadow, into the grassy mud, just a face and some skin and wilted muscles- more or less a grotesque bag of a used-to-be-a-someone, whose fancy was quantum physics and astronomy since the disease that cut him down in his prime robbed him of lecturing at the university.

The UFO spun, making waves in the lawn, lifting off with a pulsating hum and was gone into the foggy clouds overhead, no one a witness, no one to stop them, no one at all.

Later the next morning, when the police were called about a murder in the park from a man walking his dog at sunrise, SHADO was notified. The blue vans pulled up to the park, the remains taken in and studied at site, and a team led by Alec wandered through the man’s home, while his maid sat crying in the study, having arrived for work on time. She had been briefed and she just sat down in shock, and then cried and wouldn’t stop.

Alec was putting a book back into the shelf in the old crippled man’s collection of books when the tech came up from outside and reported to him.
‘Well, let’s have it.’ Alec said dryly.

‘Sir,’ the tech started ‘The man was ill with atrophy and was also very old, he was robbed of every organ including most of his intestines and bladder. This mutilation was unusual because of the amount of organs taken and also the condition of his brain.’ The tech stopped and stared at Alec.

‘Well, what was the problem with his brain?’ Alec asked perturbed yet politely.

‘Sir,’ the tech said softly, with sympathy, out of respect seemingly. ‘His brain was gone. And a radioactive Black Gas left inside the cranial cavity.  This is the first time I have ever seen such a thing, just a black hole, with radiation…..’ the tech stopped, hiding his horror.

‘Ironic, maybe even a joke,’ Alec said, hiding his anger and disgust, gazing out into the park from the front window inside the old crippled man’s house.

‘Who was he, if I may ask, sir?’ the tech inquired.

‘Steven Hawking.’ Alec stated.

  1. I like the story, however i wonder about the organs of an old man. First I thought the aliens would only take the brain as he was brilliant man, but no. I am glad the organ taking procedure was not further detailed though! Scary to be reminded that there are earthmen in our world and among us, doing exactly the same!! I wish there would be a Straker trying to catch all the organ hunting earthmen too!!!

  2. I’m almost sure that this was the starting episode of a series, isn’t it? Otherwise there would be left too many open question about the old man, SHADO’s further handling of the escaped UFO etc. I’m curious about the next part of this story!
