I’m Anthony Taylor, author of The Future Was Fab: The Art of Mike Trim, and I’ll be appearing at Dragon*Con in Atlanta, GA (USA) September 2-5. There will be some UFO and Gerry Anderson related programming at the convention I’d like to help spread the word about.
At 10:00 a.m. on Friday Sept. 2, I’m hosting a panel on UFO in room A703 of the Marriott Marquis hotel.
The panel will be on the background and making of the show, as well as it’s cultural impact. I hope to have a special guest phoning in with some news on the upcoming UFO movie. I’d be interested in adding another panelist as well, so if you plan on being at Dragon*Con and feel you have something to contribute, please drop me an email at ataylor(at)mindspring(dot)com. The panel will last for an hour.
At 7:00 p.m. on the same day, I’m appearing on a general Gerry Anderson panel to discuss all of his series and films. This panel will take place in the Macon Room at the Sheraton Downtown (Dragon*Con takes place in four downtown hotels) and will also last for an hour.
On Saturday the 3rd of September, I’m interviewing Space: 1999’s Martin Landau live on-stage about his years on the Anderson series. This will be a one-on-one discussion about one of Landau’s most memorable roles – Commander John Koenig. This will also last for an hour and will take place at the Capitol Ballroom at the Sheraton Downtown. This will be the first in-depth interview Landau has given about Space: 1999 in many years.
For more information on Dragon*Con and all of the guests and programming this year, take a look at their website at http://www.dragoncon.org.
I hope to see fellow UFO and Anderson fans there. If these panels are well attended and the organizers of the convention get positive feedback about them, we’ll be able to expand the related programming next year.
